London is most definitely taking over with British born Rita Ora teaming up with fellow Brit Tinie Tempah. Rita who is signed to Jay-Zs Roc Nation interestingly borrows the pen from Drake Drizzy with his track ‘Im Ready For Ya’. I’ve actually been playing Drake‘s version for a couple of years now so it’s gonna take time to listen to a female sing the same verses but never the less she did her thing with this track. Take a listen below and if you have never heard Drake‘s version listen below also.
I was first introduced to part 2’s music by his publicist @_iPublicist_ceo who put me on to his website and Facebook page. Instantly I could hear his music was very different to the sound of American Hip Hop and extremely familiar to the sound of the UK rap scene who mix pop with rap music to generate that Electro/Hip Hop sound. When talking with him I mentioned that he reminded me of our UK International Artist Tinie Tempah who also uses that Electro Hip Hop sound here in Europe which has helped him become an International star across the globe. Part 2 who is currently in the studio recording his first complete album spoke with me around topics such as The European sound to his music, his influences, his EP ‘Don’t Shoot The Martian’
We even spoke on the current state of hip hop by talking Common, Drake, Nicki Minaji and Lil’ Kim. Part 2 Is a strong believer in creativity as such his facebook page reads:
Part 2 is a ambitious human being who challenges young men and women to fight for liberation and believes that creativity and ingenuity can change the world. As a recording artist, it is his obligation to inspire and uplift his community through art and performance. In doing so he is notably emerging as one of the most innovative young pioneer’s in pop culture.
Don’t Shoot The Martian is Part 2’s first album EP release. With production from Aaron Rash, he creatively fuse’s elements of hip hop, electro-pop and alternative music genre’s to form one distinct sound of his own. The ambient burst of electric guitars, synths and 808’s are combined with his uptempo vocal delivery that takes command of the energetic cadences.
This is why he remains different to the rest which is also the basis behind his EP name which he explains below. Check out what Part 2 had to say below with part 2 (No Pun Intended) of our conversation after the jump!
