Around 3 years ago I started ‘Shisha Wednesday’s’ with a few of my team, each week it became bigger and bigger with more people wanting to be at the event where we chill, play cards, smoke Shisha and generally talk about every and anything mostly about music. So a few weeks ago I thought, why not bring ‘Shisha Wednesday’s’ to Say-Somethin.Com and debate current issues within music, which brings us all the way here whereby we did just that. Starting off the season with Episode 1 Say Somethin’ discussed the controversial list devised by MTV naming the hottest MC’s in the game for 2011. In this video we go from 10-1 and debate whether we think the list was fair, who should have moved spots, who should have been taken off completely and who should have been placed on the list who MTV missed off all together. So the moment you been waiting for Comment, Thumbs Up and Subscribe to the videos as each Wednesday I’m dropping a brand new debate and you don’t want to miss out!!!…….
So what do you do when one of your family members is in the hospital and you have an interview booked with BlackWall Street artist Mysonne, Simple you conduct a telephone interview straight from the hospital, And that is exactly what i did on saturday afternoon. I was extremely privileged that Mysonne still agreed to have the interview at that time and on that day as he held the interview literally after just getting home from Rick Ross‘ Birthday celebrations in NYC with French Montana. Mysonne was extremely tired but did not hesitate to answer questions about his career and more. Mysonne who previously had links with Dmx and Ruff Ryders before his 7 year prison term in 1999 discussed his trip to London with The Game who he is signed too on Blackwall Street, Doing the Cypher with Brooklyn Babs Bunny who we interviewed also last week, His Money Gang situation, His beef with Lil’ B and XXL and last but not lease his Love for Lil’ Kim who welcomed him into the game. here is an excerpts from the interview:
SS: In Regards to Common vs Drake as Common is stating that Hip Hop is too sweet. You recently had a little talking with Lil’ B, He was on the cover of XXL and many people felt he shouldn’t have been on the cover, You publicly said
he shouldn’t have been on the cover so what do you think about the state of Hip Hop in regards to being too sweet and certain rappers out there?
M: My thing is this it’s not about….There’s always gone be different artist that do things, Just think that the Hip Hop era, The Hip Hop community is only putting certain artist to the forefront, before you had a different outlet for every type of artist, you used to listen to the radio there was 5 or 6 different type of artists, Now every artist is in the same category as Drake, You have Big Sean, Drake, J. Cole all these type of artist are alike, All these artist to a certain degree do the same thing. They are all dope artist i like them all the music but i just wanna hear a variety, To hear artist that talk about what they don’t talk about. You know i wanna hear artist that talk about where I’m from, The struggle, everybody is not Rich, Everybody is not popping bottles in the club and f*cking models like that is not everybody’s reality. You turning the common person away from Hip Hop when Hip Hop was made for us to talk about our reality…….. When you promote one type of artist and one type of music in Hip Hop to me is a discredit and then for you to put people like Lil’ B in the category of Hip Hop period to me you making people look at us like we a joke….. When you promote someone with absolutely no talent then call him the future of what we do is diminishing the value of Hip Hop.
