So what do you do when one of your family members is in the hospital and you have an interview booked with BlackWall Street artist Mysonne, Simple you conduct a telephone interview straight from the hospital, And that is exactly what i did on saturday afternoon. I was extremely privileged that Mysonne still agreed to have the interview at that time and on that day as he held the interview literally after just getting home from Rick Ross‘ Birthday celebrations in NYC with French Montana. Mysonne was extremely tired but did not hesitate to answer questions about his career and more. Mysonne who previously had links with Dmx and Ruff Ryders before his 7 year prison term in 1999 discussed his trip to London with The Game who he is signed too on Blackwall Street, Doing the Cypher with Brooklyn Babs Bunny who we interviewed also last week, His Money Gang situation, His beef with Lil’ B and XXL and last but not lease his Love for Lil’ Kim who welcomed him into the game. here is an excerpts from the interview:
SS: In Regards to Common vs Drake as Common is stating that Hip Hop is too sweet. You recently had a little talking with Lil’ B, He was on the cover of XXL and many people felt he shouldn’t have been on the cover, You publicly said he shouldn’t have been on the cover so what do you think about the state of Hip Hop in regards to being too sweet and certain rappers out there?
M: My thing is this it’s not about….There’s always gone be different artist that do things, Just think that the Hip Hop era, The Hip Hop community is only putting certain artist to the forefront, before you had a different outlet for every type of artist, you used to listen to the radio there was 5 or 6 different type of artists, Now every artist is in the same category as Drake, You have Big Sean, Drake, J. Cole all these type of artist are alike, All these artist to a certain degree do the same thing. They are all dope artist i like them all the music but i just wanna hear a variety, To hear artist that talk about what they don’t talk about. You know i wanna hear artist that talk about where I’m from, The struggle, everybody is not Rich, Everybody is not popping bottles in the club and f*cking models like that is not everybody’s reality. You turning the common person away from Hip Hop when Hip Hop was made for us to talk about our reality…….. When you promote one type of artist and one type of music in Hip Hop to me is a discredit and then for you to put people like Lil’ B in the category of Hip Hop period to me you making people look at us like we a joke….. When you promote someone with absolutely no talent then call him the future of what we do is diminishing the value of Hip Hop.

YMCMB Signee Drake decided to speak out on the Common situation seeing as though he has only done so via ‘Stay Schemin’ so far that’s if you’re going to discredit his deleted tweets?!. Brooklyn Babs Aka Babs Bunny chopped it up with Say Somethin’ while on her promotion tour for ‘Queen Of The Ring’. During the interview Babs talks candidly about her new projects including her Mixtapes ‘Wave Music’ ‘Astronomical’ and ‘Back 2 Life’ and her movement in pushing female hip hop to the limit in the Worlds first ever all female battle league ‘Queen Of The Ring’
“No Cup Cake Rhyming I put Them Out With Some Of The Dudes Out Here Today”
Make no mistake Babs is a force not to be reckoned with as she proves below in her Twitter freestyle:
Babs discussed her friendship with Mysonne (Who we will also be interviewing on Saturday) while speaking on the cypher which caused quite a buzz on World star Hip hop a few years back
“I Like To Get In A Cypher With The Dudes Cause I Like To Show My Skills, I Love Female Rappers But I really Don’t Wanna Be In A Cypher With 6 Of Them Sh*t’s, Like I Wanna Be In A Cypher With 6 Other Dudes And I Just Destroy All Of Em”
I was first introduced to part 2’s music by his publicist @_iPublicist_ceo who put me on to his website and Facebook page. Instantly I could hear his music was very different to the sound of American Hip Hop and extremely familiar to the sound of the UK rap scene who mix pop with rap music to generate that Electro/Hip Hop sound. When talking with him I mentioned that he reminded me of our UK International Artist Tinie Tempah who also uses that Electro Hip Hop sound here in Europe which has helped him become an International star across the globe. Part 2 who is currently in the studio recording his first complete album spoke with me around topics such as The European sound to his music, his influences, his EP ‘Don’t Shoot The Martian’
We even spoke on the current state of hip hop by talking Common, Drake, Nicki Minaji and Lil’ Kim. Part 2 Is a strong believer in creativity as such his facebook page reads:
Part 2 is a ambitious human being who challenges young men and women to fight for liberation and believes that creativity and ingenuity can change the world. As a recording artist, it is his obligation to inspire and uplift his community through art and performance. In doing so he is notably emerging as one of the most innovative young pioneer’s in pop culture.
Don’t Shoot The Martian is Part 2’s first album EP release. With production from Aaron Rash, he creatively fuse’s elements of hip hop, electro-pop and alternative music genre’s to form one distinct sound of his own. The ambient burst of electric guitars, synths and 808’s are combined with his uptempo vocal delivery that takes command of the energetic cadences.
This is why he remains different to the rest which is also the basis behind his EP name which he explains below. Check out what Part 2 had to say below with part 2 (No Pun Intended) of our conversation after the jump!
Common was in ATL where he participated in a Q&A with V-103. To close out the event he did a dope freestyle straight off the dome with the host Ryan Cameron giving Common topics to freestyle on.
