Yelawolf drops new video for his first single, “Box Chevy V”
Alabama’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Grandbaby, Yelawolf, prepares for his sophomore album release from Eminem‘s Shady Records. “Love Story” will be Yelawolf’s second album title, following his Freshman release, “Radioactive“, which I was a huge fan of. However, I always like when Yelawolf does his mixtapes with SupaHotBeats. I haven’t heard too much about who all will be on Yeller’s project yet, or which producers he’s deciding to work with, although “Box Chevy V” was produced by one of my favorites, WLPWR, (stay tuned for a possible interview)
Anyways, Yelawolf takes his Chevy truck thru the backwoods of what is safe to assume Alabama and talks about his love for Chevrolet. “This ain’t no gay Ford, i’m pushin’ bow ties til I die..” Yelawolf has released 4 other “Box Chevy” tracks throughout his projects, all with a different feel and mood to them. It’s safe to say i’m a huge fan of this one, i’ve been bumping the track since he released the single a month or so ago. I’m really looking forward to seeing what else Yelawolf has up his sleeve for this album, i’ve been following his career closely since I heard his mixtape, “Trunk Muzik“.
Check out Yelawolf’s “Box Chevy V” below and comment to Say Somethin’ about what you think!

Okay, so for those of you who don’t know, I put out a track about 10 months ago, “Made Men” featuring Ca$his (formerly Shady Records), and the production was done by DJ Pain 1. Thru working with him, i’ve had the chance to talk to him on multiple occasions, he’s a real cool dude. Always willing to give advice and share his industry knowledge. Pain 1 has produced Records for Joe Budden, Shyne, Public Enemy, Vado, 50 cent, and his record on Young Jeezy‘s Platinum selling album “Don’t Do It” (2008, Recession) and also Jeezy’s “CTE or Nothing”. Pain 1 has produced for many other artists, this is just to name a few. Not to mention, dude has a Masters of English Degree. Pain 1 eventually started releasing his own free mixtape series, “Painkillerz” to help build a name for himself, having big name hosts like MC Lyte, Black Rob, Big Sean and LEP Bogus Boys. I can talk all day about what he’s doing for the culture, but I figured I’d ask DJ Pain 1 some questions and have him tell you more about himself.
SO, I contacted Pain 1 about doing the interview and he hit me back and told me he would be more than willing to shed some light for you guys, check the interview below:
Drake Releases “Draft Day” Produced by Boi-1da
Last night Drizzy casually slipped a soundcloud link on his Twitter page, which led fans to his new joint “Draft Day” produced by Boi-1da. In the opening line he shouts out Johnny Football and even has Johnny featured on the cover art. Now, people who follow my twitter seen my rant about how I feel about Drake’s career last night.. However, I promised my Twitter followers that I would listen to the song with an unbiased opinion, and be fair. Besides, part of the problem with Hip Hop culture today is biased bloggers who force their personal opinion down fans throats without fairly reviewing the music.
Not me. But I do plan to Say Somethin’..
Drake has ALWAYS been a dope writer, can dude can sing. He has a full catalog of proof of this.. Nobody can say that Drake can’t rap, and that he can’t sing. Even better, whenever he links up with Boi-1da, we can always expect him to knock it out of the park. Their chemistry always works in Drake’s favor. As my man MeRCY (@MusicByMeRCY) said, their chemistry can be compared to Prodigy (Mobb Deep) and Alchemist’s. His flow on this joint was dope, his delivery was also on point. Even though the beat was kinda laid back and relaxed, Drake’s energy was a notch or two above that, without being too aggressive, it worked perfectly. The song overall is very nice, he doesn’t sing at all, he just raps. But that’s okay, I’m more of a fan of his rapping personally. I think the fans enjoyed it a lot as well, even people who aren’t fans of Drakes had positive responses to the release. As always, I’ve posted the link AND the actual soundcloud player for ya’ll to enjoy. Check out Drake’s new joint “Draft Day” and Say Somethin’ to let us know what you think!
50 cent drops visuals for “Smoke” featuring Trey Songz (produced by Dr. Dre)
Fif has blessed us with another dynamic single from his 5th studio album, “Animal Ambition”. “Smoke”, featuring Trey Songz. Despite 50’s recent seperation from Interscope, Dr. Dre blessed the track with his infamous production. The video is directed by Eif Rivera, who also directed 50’s videos for “Money”, “First Date”, “Major Distribution” and some others. Eif Rivera does extraordinary video work, as you can see in the “Smoke” video.
50 cent is revolutionizing the way that music is delivered to the fans. Each week he drops a single, and then a couple days later, the finished video is dropped. Fans hear the song on the radio, and want to continue to enjoy it later. With everything being done on smartphones, apps like “YouTube” are popular when people want to just look up a song and listen, so why not have something they can actually watch instead of some stupid lyric video or picture slideshow? Anyways, here is the official video for “Smoke”, I also posted the link for those who want to save it for later. Enjoy.
What’s Good family??
about a year ago I started writing for Say-Somethin’ Blog and its been a while since I’ve posted anything. Sorry for the disappearance! I had a lot of personal business I had to attend to.
But now I’m Back! I’ll be reviewing new music, posting about anything Hip Hop and answering questions you guys have! Thanks for the support and keep reading Say-Somethin’ Blog
So what’s been up? There is so much i want to discuss with you guys about what’s been going on with Hip Hop in the past year, too much to seperate into 100 different posts.. but if there is anything that ya’ll want to speak on, feel free to comment and we can talk about it!
I know recently a big topic on my mind has been 50 cent’s Indy birth. 50 recently left Interscope and is releasing music in a timely fashion like he used to. Fif has always been motivated to make music and apparently Interscope was keeping him from releasing it how he wanted to. I say good for him, Me personally, I’m a huge 50 cent fan. So anything that allows him to get back in the studio, i’m all for it. His singles are actually really cool, the videos are fly too. “Hold On” and “Don’t Worry About It” (ft. Yo Gotti) remind me a lot of the “The Massacre” style 50. Not street enough to be in the same category as his infamous “Get Rich or Die Tryin'”, but not too far out of the streets to be considered as another “Curtis” album. Hopefully 50 really brings out that “shoot em up, rob em” type music with “Animal Ambition”, THATS the Curtis I want to hear.
Anyways, I won’t drag this on too much, not really considered “exclusive” news I guess but best believe in the next few weeks i’ll be updating the site with everything 50! Welcome back Fif!
